What Ails Public Health?

This essay takes a critical approach to the training of public-health professionals, arguing that public health’s power has been dissipated because too much of contemporary public health is motivated by bankrupt ideologies and asking what needs to change in order to generate a workforce for confronting 21st-century problems.
